There are FOUR different versions designs included. 8, 4, and 2 flame segments. One of the longer strings is pre-curved (S curve) to help going over rounded bodies such as 40 Model Ford. There are two different sizes of each segment variation.
These different designs are indicated by a "SOLID" color in
the low resolution example image at top of this page.
There are a WHOPPING 70 MASKS included per sheet!!
Sizes range from approximately 1/8" wide x 1" long to 0.175" wide x 4.5" long
Sheet includes various sizes to fit a WIDE range of
different castings from large 1/64 scale casts like VW Drag Bus and
Dairy Delivery and also masks included that will work nicely on smaller
casts such as Nova and Camaro. Several masks may be
applied along side each other to create long, continuous, flames much
like the 62 Chevy Truck example shown here, done by Beest
Customs.
In general, I RECOMMEND New users get the "Inner ONLY" masks WITH FILM!!
The inner masks are generally much easier to use AND also make REPEAT usage Much more likely.
The "with Film" versions can make transferring the masks to surface easier for less experienced users.
However, using the "NO Film" version (manually application)
of this design, is not incredibly difficult, and in fact some users
may find manual manipulation of these masks easier when applying to
rounded body lines or surfaces. Those that have used masks previously,
may especially prefer this method. Even the straight
line Inner masks can be "curved" if manually applied. When
using manually however, PARTICULAR ATTENTION must be given to the tips
of flame licks to insure proper placement/alignment and orientation.
I STRONGLY Suggest for users that prefer the "outer" masks, choose "outer ~ WITH Film" in order to avoid complications while transferring to the surface.
these designs are available in the following application styles:
Inner ONLY WITH Film
or
Outer ONLY WITH Film
or
Inner & Outer NO FILM
Please choose "application style" from the drop down menu below.
Note: "Default" option is Inner + Outer ~ NO FILM
Other than those stipulations, I recommend these masks for all skill levels.
Remember, the easy way to choose the masks you need are ....
INNER Masks should be used if you want to paint the FLAME COLOR FIRST, apply the mask, then paint the Main body color and remove mask.
OUTER MASKS should be used if you want to paint the Main Body color FIRST, apply the mask, then spray the FLAME COLOR LAST.
These masks can be reused several times if you are careful not to rip or stretch them during removal and store them correctly.
